About
Six years as a procurement officer in Nepal's construction sector
Procurement is a commercial job that happens to be measured in cement and steel. Here is how I came to it, and what I have run.

Why this field
My family influenced the direction — construction was around me before it was a choice I made. What turned it into a career was an internship I took during my bachelor degree, where I first saw the procurement function from the inside.
What struck me then is what still keeps me in it. A construction programme can be perfectly planned and still stop dead because a material did not arrive, or because a supplier stopped extending credit. Procurement is where the commercial side of a company meets the physical reality of a site, and getting it right is the difference between a programme that runs and one that waits.
I have spent six years on that problem — on a hydropower scheme in the hills of Lamjung, and now on a national highway package in Dang. Both taught me the same lesson from different directions: sourcing is rarely the hard part. Managing credit and keeping the supplier base intact is.
Where I am going
Procurement management is where my experience is deepest, and it is the work I am strongest at. But the BBA was taken with management in mind, and the direction I am building towards is running a construction business at General Manager level — with A and B class companies, where the combination of procurement depth and commercial training is what the role actually calls for.
